Cadet class in the balance ahead of BKA final

The Barbados Karting Association (BKA) will bring the curtain down in its 2025 Sectus Technologies Championship at Bushy Park Barbados on Sunday (November 16). Having lost the scheduled sixth round to bad weather in September, the youngsters in the Easykart 60cc Cadet class are eager for one last chance to score points.

With 10 wins so far, Jordyn Hinkson leads the standings by 80 points from nine-time winner Jaydn Brathwaite, but the gap comes down to just 13 once a drop score is taken into account, as Brathwaite missed round four. And he might have missed the final, too, after injuring himself in a fall, but the 12-year-old is determined to race in the final and add to his total of nine race wins.

Edward Norris has improved steadily in his first season, his 13 top three finishes including inheriting his first race win when Brathwaite incurred a penalty in round three. While Norris looks set to finish third, there is a tight battle for fourth.

After one drop score, Jaylan Priddee is just three ahead of last year’s class Champion and Rookie Driver of the Year Shamir Eversley, with Finn Cox another 20 behind; all have finished in the top three and will be looking to finish the season on a high note.

The situation is more clear-cut in the Easykart 125cc class, which Maloney has put out of reach of his rivals with 17 wins in 20 races to his credit, including two clean sweeps of four in one day, to claim his fourth consecutive class title . . . and become BKA Champion Driver elect for the second time.

The consistent Aaron Blackett moved up to second in class when reigning Champion Driver Jacob Mayers missed round five, but he returns to fight for the position on Sunday, the 125cc entry also including fellow race-winner Cody Mark.

Class Champion-elect Aeden Bruce will face Sebastian Clarke in the 100cc Juniors, while the BKA’s female racers are out in force once again, Hailey Brathwaite and Kayleigh Catwell in the 125s and Ava Mayers in the Cadets.
